At its 2008 meeting, the CliC Scientific Steering Group agreed that our focus should be on programs that both integrate across the cryospheric components and provide information to decision makers. The group also recognized that a key goal of the broader WCRP programme is to provide reliable and objective scientific advice to the broader community, which drives us to consider who our end-users are and how best to serve them. The steering group agreed that the following five integrative cross-cutting research initiatives would be of central interest to the broader community:
