FrostByte K Clem: ENSO vs. PDO relationships with recent Southern Ocean circulation changes

Description

Frostbyte by Kyle Clem, for the Large Scale Climate Variability in Antarctica and the Southern Ocean workshop, held from 24 - 26th March 2015, at at Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California, San Diego, USA.

The recent negative pressure trend in the South Pacific during austral spring is associated with coastal warming of West Antarctica, and it's related to the recent shift of the Pacific Decadal Oscillation toward its negative phase. The positive pressure trend in the South Atlantic is associated with warming along the west coast of the Antarctic Peninsula, and it's related to the recent positive trend in the Southern Oscillation Index.
